Principal

Derek has been known to march to the tune of different drummer.  Maybe he was born with, maybe it was developed at an early age out of necessity, but Derek taken very different paths to get to where he is today.  Derek uses this “road less traveled” way of life to see opportunity in any obstacle or failure.   He continues to explore new ways to innovate, never wanting to settle for the status quo. 

This ability to see opportunity and innovate allows Derek to work directly with Finance and HR Teams to find healthcare and benefits solutions.  Over the past 15 years, Derek has worked alongside his clients in strategic planning, data analytics and reporting, renewal and marketing projects, regulatory and compliance issues, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate reorganization. During his career, Derek’s primary focus has been with self-funded employers of all sizes in designing, implementing, administering, communicating, and adjusting competitive benefit programs.

Derek holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Business Administration from Oglethorpe University, and is licensed in Life, Accident, Health Property and Casualty in numerous states. Derek and his wife, Grey, live in Saint Simons, Georgia with their two children.

Bill Rasmussen

Principal

After spending over 4o years helping employers of all sizes navigate group health insurance and employee benefits, Bill decided to get a different perspective on healthcare, the patient perspective.  In March of 2020 Bill suffered a stroke that allowed him study and analyze the inpatient, outpatient and rehabilitation aspects of our healthcare system firsthand.  Bill is happy to add his new experiences to his extensive resume.

Bill spent the last 20 years serving his clients as senior leader with two national employee benefit consulting firms.  This started when he opened the Atlanta Satellite Office of Benefit Management Group (BMG) as a full Partner in late 2002 after a successful career within the BCBS organization NASCO; having sat on the BMG Board of Directors since their inception. With the Gallagher Benefit Services acquisition of BMG in 2006, Bill was appointed an Area Senior V.P. and has continued to grow and manage a significant book of business in the Atlanta area.   In 2016, Bill was presented the opportunity to join a significant team as a Lead Consultant with Alliant Insurance Services where he continued to help employers manage their risk of not just health insurance, but across all benefits and into absenteeism, workers comp and productivity.

In addition to Bill’s extensive background with large, national customers and his extensive leadership positions with several Health Plans, he spent the first 15 years of his career in senior underwriting positions at four large, commercial insurance carriers, specializing in groups from 100 employees to 10,000 employees. He was a leader at Lincoln National in underwriting and pricing multi-option HMO’s, POS Plans, and PPO plans and had a significant role in the early days of Flexible Benefits and 125 Plans.
